Our Story
Building Stewardship Spirit (BSSEDU) officially came to life in January 2024, when Karolyn registered the business under research and development in social sciences and humanities. However, the seeds of its creation were planted much earlier, in the shared struggles and aspirations between two former educators, Karolyn and Bryant, who, despite being shaped by challenging experiences in toxic workplaces, found strength and purpose in their shared dream of creating a space where people could thrive authentically. Together, they envisioned an organization that would not only support educators, families, and professionals but also challenge oppressive systems and outdated norms in education and beyond.
Guided by principles of authenticity and inspired by Indigenous teachings like Two-Eyed Seeing, BSS has grown into a movement that embraces diversity as pedagogy, fosters meaningful relationships, and empowers individuals to live authentically. Whether through workshops, research, or or programs like The Enableum, we strive to create spaces and places that inspire healing, connection, and transformative action. By weaving together stories, knowledge, and lived experiences, BSS continues to reimagine education and professional spaces as places of empowerment and possibility.
